Favourites to win Melbourne Cup 2015?
The Melbourne Cup will be held on Tuesday, 3 November 2015, Race 7 at Flemington Racecourse. Who are some of the favourites to watch this year?
Last year in the 2014 Melbourne Cup, British man Ryan Moore did very well riding “Protectionist” to win. Moore is racing again this year in 2015, although likely with a different horse (“The Order of St George” is the odds on favourite) although Protectionist is also racing this year, currently at odds of $21 for a win.
It will be good to see which does better this year, the winning horse or the jockey.
One of the current Melbourne Cup favourite at the time of writing is the Japanese horse “Fame Game”. At $9 odds from CrownBet, still with just under a month to go, the bookies feel he’s up for a good chance come the first Tuesday in November.
What you may not now is Ryan Moore suffered a serious accident including neck injury several months ago. He may be a little shaken, and his form will no doubt not be in peak condition after such an injury, but we’re prepared to be surprised, and time will tell if his training efforts can produce another win this year at Flemington. A repeat is certainly possible, and Ryan is the man to do it after a stellar performance last year, including snagging the Cox Plate.
The next 2 favourites are currently “Order Of St George” at $11, and a racing horse name that you can really picture an announcer reading out quickly and repeatedly: “Who Shot Thebarman” at $13.
Although still low, a few of the better yet higher odds horses to win the Cup in 2015 are “Hartnell” and “Hokko Brave”, both even going at $17 flat to win, and Sky Hunter right now available for $21.00 odds . Keep an eye on these three, with the better payout to match.
Still a few weeks away until the Melbourne Cup in November, at this stage anybody could win, and an outside upset always makes it more interesting I feel, but above are the favourites according to bookies right now, which includes both horses and a jockey. Who will you bet on?
